How much does it cost for a dependent to use the gym?

    • Fort Carson NOW Blog says:

It doesn’t cost anything to use the gym for a dependent, however they must show valid military ID at reception. The pool, climbing wall, and fitness classes inside the gym have minimal fees.

Now that the new gym is open, does it have a family area where Mom’s can take their kids and workout?

    • Fort Carson NOW Blog says:

The Iron Horse Fitness Center does not have childcare inside the gym. There is hourly childcare available in the Ivy Child Development Center which is within walking distance of the gym. The pool is a family area, but children under the age of 13 may not be left unattended. For more information on how to sign up for hourly childcare visit the Ivy Child Development Center page.

The fees for the pool (seasonal or yearly passes) are they good for both indoor and outdoor pools or do we have to get (pay for) separate passes for each pool? No one seems to know about this when asked.

    Hello,

I am a personal trainer/nutritionist, and exercise therapy specialist, are there any PT/fitness professional contracts at this facility? What is the process – regulation in order for me to be able to use the facility with clients?

Is there any way to start a Family Karate Program at one of the physical fitness centers? SKIES and CYS do not allow for parents and children to take classes together, and they charge per lesson as opposed to a monthly rate. Newport Naval Station, Newport Rhode Island has an excellet family karate school which could provide a framework for starting a program unheard of on an Army post, but extremely sucessful on other installations. A family karate class builds fitness, resiliency, community, and strenghtens families by allowing them to train together in a positive and challenging way. Only having programs for adults, and only having programs for children, wherin one party is either abscent or required to be an observer actually weakens the family as a unit because parents and children are not working towards a common experience or goal. I beg of the administration to consider offering such a beneficial program, and for other readers who would be interested in joining a family karate school to post their support so that we can begin a greater discussion.
    Thank you.

I saw the earlier post regarding childcare (the lack of it as a response). As a former active duty officer myself and currently married to an Army officer with 4 children…3 of them under 8 years of age), I find it EXTREMELY frustrating that these amazing fitness centers really can not be taken advantage of by Army spouses with young children needing childcare. Yes…it is easy to state that “hourly childcare is available at the CDC a short walk away” but it is not really “available” unless you plan ahead and reserve a spot sometimes up to 1 month in advance. In any case, I did not intend for this post to be a complaint, rather I would like some information on who to contact so that I may have this issue addressed and hopefully, have a positive, lasting impact on improving the facility access for family members. Having to pay for and month’s worth of childcare on an hourly basis each time I use a military fitness facility would cost me MORE than a monthly family membership to Lifetime Fitness. Any information regarding who to contact would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I was interested in attendeing the practical skills and choreography workshop on Sept. 29th. If you could please let me know how to register and the cost. Thank you

    What are your holiday hours?

  • Jim Bouchard says:

How about offering Racquetball Lessons? If this is something the sports staff wants to consider please give me a call or email. There are lessons for many other activities at the gym and the demand for racquetball at the facility is growing. During the post tournament I was approached by a few people and have since been approached by others while practicing and conducting racquetball drills. 719-651-5816
